An Updated Version of the Classic Online Shooter Game

The classic online shooting game is back with another honest-to-goodness game. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is not exactly a sequel but rather a refinement of what the people could loosely call the best competitive first-person shooter genre. This game version is basically an update that maintains the enthralling gameplay of the action game that is Counter-Strike.

Updated gameplay

In case you are not familiar with Counter Strike’s gameplay, it is entirely a multiplayer experience where you can play against AI bots. The game consists of two teams, the terrorists and counter-terrorists, fighting each other on a variety of maps, with secondary objectives such as hostage rescue.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive expands this team-based action gameplay to feature new maps, characters, weapons, and game modes. In addition to the standard Defusal and Hostage Rescue modes, the game also added the Arms Race and Demolition modes, both of which come with no downtown perfect for those who want fast-paced action.

Both modes removed the classic weapon purchasing but instead awarded players with new weapons when they made a kill. Depending on the server setting, the weapons vary from an initial lousy weapon to an acme. The weapon awards can also go down and force you to use nothing but your knife.

Arms Race also removes the downtime of waiting after you die and plays like a traditional deathmatch game, with much less teamwork. If you want the more traditional Counter Strike-style of play, Demolition mode has that for you. However, your weapons will turn from good to worse with each kill.

With both game modes added, Counter-Strike; Global Offensive has made your gaming more fun

New maps to explore and weapons to horde

Counter-Strike; Global Offensive hosts a vast number of official maps, with each mode having different playlists of maps. The casual mode alone comes with four different maps, so you will never run out of places to explore. The maps you can play depend on the game mode you choose. However, to fully enjoy the game, you should familiarize yourself with as many as possible. There is no worse feeling than frantically finding a bomb site while in an unfamiliar location.

All maps have a couple of different paths, recognizable features, and marked bomb sites. Maps are also added frequently or dropped from the playlist, so your experience may vary with every game.

As mentioned, the two new modes no longer require the players to purchase weapons. Instead, they would be rewarded with weaponry whenever they register a kill. This means, you will have a lot more action, and you can explore more maps. But aside from this, the game also added more weapons that you can try. Players can get lucky enough to get a Molotov Cocktail and incendiary which are very vicious and spread puddles of flame that can block choke points completely. The game also added decoy grenades which are handy in case you need to confuse aggressors.

Counter-Strike: Source Mac system requirements

It's important to note that these are general guidelines, and actual performance can vary depending on various factors such as other software running on your Mac and the specific configuration of your machine. Also, keep in mind that the macOS isn't the primary platform for which CS:GO is optimized, so performance might not be as good as on a Windows PC. Check below the minimum and recommended requirements:

  • Operating System: MacOS X 10.11 (El Capitan) or later.
  • Processor: Intel Core Duo Processor (2GHz or better).
  • Memory: At least 2 GB of RAM.
  • Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 2400 or better / NVIDIA 8600M or better.
  • Storage: 15 GB of available space is required.

Keep in mind that these requirements are quite modest by modern standards as Counter-Strike: Source was originally released in 2004. The game should run smoothly on most modern PCs.

Counter-Strike made even better

The bottom line is that Counter-Strike; Global Offensive took the best parts of Counter-Strike and tweaked it to make it better. It is still the hardcore game that players have come to love. The addition of new game modes and maps means there is something new for experienced players to enjoy. If you love the classic game series, then you won’t do better than the Counter-Strike; Global Offensive.
